Lockdown and beyond….
16th June 2020 | Career AdviceCorona virusCovid-19Job HuntingMotivational
The last few months have been surreal for all sorts of reasons and at the start of March we watched many of our clients start to get itchy feet, put jobs on hold and cancel temporary bookings due to a virus we knew was coming our way but knew very little about.
We sensed we would be in for a rough ride, just like 7 out of 10 businesses who had to take the difficult decision to Furlough their staff.
All of our Consultants say that recruitment is in their blood and they love their days filled with unscheduled tasks popping up at the last minute. Our day in the office can never by determined by a ‘to do’ list as that pretty much goes out of the window when a client calls in for 5 contractors needed the following day.
Life at YourRecruit can be quite hectic to say the least, but in a good way, where we all support each other and when a clients job comes in, it is all hands on deck with the consultants all suggesting names from their hot list and searching our data base for suitable candidates to create a short list. Whilst there is a great deal of comradery between our team there is also a very healthy competitive edge as the consultant filling the role can walk away from their day with the knowledge, they have got someone, somewhere a job and made a difference.
So, for all the reasons above, the consultants were desperately saddened to have to be put on the Furlough scheme, however much of a necessity it turned out to be.
For a full 4 months most our consultants have had their hands tied behind their backs and not been able to carry on with the job they love.
Brighter days are now in front of us with the majority of our team starting back in the office from the 1st July and we are looking forward to getting our company back to normal and helping our clients and candidates once more.
We haven’t been updating the jobs on our website, as in simple terms, we didn’t have any, but things are about to change. As more and more of our clients return to normal, we can expect a flurry of activity bringing in new jobs for permanent and contract roles.
There will be little change to the way we work. We are very lucky to have extremely spacious offices and we have had these deep cleaned and marked out with the current two-meter rules so that our consultants can still social distance whilst working. We have hand sanitizer stations and anyone entering our office will have their temperature taken. We will be asking any staff member with a cold to work from home and we will continue to take steps to keep everyone in our office across all locations safe.
For our candidates, we will be carrying out remote registrations for the rest of the year. Applications can be completed via our website and face to face registrations will be via Zoom, SKYPE or FaceTime. We feel this minimizes the risk all round, whilst not cutting corners on our behalf.
We have put in a Post COVID-19 support package for our clients to encourage recruitment and strongly believe that we will have our clients support.
As a candidate, the market will be more competitive that it was pre COVID-19 but essentially as a recruitment agency we can support your job search with interview preparation and by making sure you are put forward to the best roles where your skills set and personality will shine. Our clients trust our judgement and we are well placed to get as many of your working as possible.
We hope to be posting a lot of jobs in July so please keep an eye on the job boards we use, which are Reed, CV Library and Total jobs, and on our website as well. If you have downloaded our APP you will see job updates on that and if you haven’t please get prepared for us to help you by going to APPLE or Google Play.
Early to mid-2020 is certainly going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons, but we believe that the second half of the year will see us back on track and doing what we love.
We can’t wait to see you all again, albeit remotely and look forward to helping you with your job search once again.
